Planned Nonorthogonal Comparisons in ANOVA

چکیده
Bonferroni’s Adjustment (also known as Dunn’s procedure). This procedure is simple to use and can be applied in a wide variety of situations where alpha correction is needed (and is perhaps most appropriate for situations other than the post hoc situation discussed here). To obtain a corrected critical value the desired alpha is divided by the number of comparisons or tests performed and that value is used as the cutoff for a multiple test value at the original alpha of interest:

Use and misuse of multiple comparisons in animal experiments.
The objective of many animal experiments is to detect meaningful relationships among treatments and associated responses. Types of comparisons of means include pairwise multiple comparisons, planned orthogonal or nonorthogonal contrasts, and orthogonal polynomials. Some procedures are appropriate only for specific types of treatment designs and specific types of objectives. Pairwise, multiple c...

This experiment produced six independent sets of observations, so the appropriate analysis was by ANOVA or equivalent. The assumptions of equal variances and Normality both are somewhat shaky but I think are acceptable, given the advantages of ANOVA for the follow-up analyses needed to answer the questions. The first question could be answered by either of two methods, depending on exactly how ...

relations group, and were then, over the course of a week, given four sets of tasks: (1) pretest classical analogies; (2) matching relations; (3) post-test classical analogies; and (4) crossdomain analogies. Results: ANOVA showed an improvement in performance from preto postclassical analogies and transfer of analogical reasoning skills to the novel cross-domain analogies. However, planned comp...
متن کاملSimulation of Pitching and Heaving Airfoil with Oscillation of Flow Boundary Condition
A pressure based implicit procedure to solve the Euler and Navier-Stokes equation is developed to predict transonic viscous and inviscid flows around the pitching and heaving airfoils with a high reslution scheme. In this process, nonorthogonal and non moving mesh with collocated finite volume formulation are used. In order to simulate pitching or heaving airfoil, oscillation of flow boundary c...
متن کاملEffect Coding
Effect coding is a coding scheme used when an analysis of variance (anova) is performed with multiple linear regression (mlr). With effect coding, the experimental effect is analyzed as a set of (nonorthogonal) contrasts which opposes all but one experimental conditions to one given experimental condition (usually the last one). With effect coding, the intercept is equal to the grand mean and t...
